When a person dies in a motorcycle crash in Smyrna, GA, eligible family members may have legal options for seeking compensation under Georgia law. A wrongful death claim can potentially address certain financial and non-economic losses connected to the death, depending on the circumstances and the family member's eligibility to bring a claim.
Medical expenses incurred before the death may be part of the losses that need to be documented. Hospital bills, emergency treatment, diagnostic testing, medications, and other medical records can provide information about the care provided following the crash.
Funeral and burial expenses can create additional financial losses for a family. Keeping invoices, receipts, and other records related to these arrangements can help establish the costs associated with the death.
The loss of a family member may also involve losses that are not reflected in medical or funeral bills. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, certain non-economic losses may be considered as part of a wrongful death claim.
Evidence from the crash may become relevant when a wrongful death claim is reviewed. Photographs, witness information, available video, medical records, insurance documents, and other records may help establish the circumstances surrounding the death and the losses that followed.
A wrongful death lawyer can review the available information and explain what claims may be available to eligible family members. An attorney may also identify additional documentation that could be relevant and explain how the claims process may proceed.
