Marietta, GA (October 18, 2025) – A serious head-on crash on Lower Roswell Road left one driver injured and another dead on Wednesday, October 15, in Cobb County.
According to the Marietta Police Department, the crash occurred just after 7 a.m., east of Shadowlawn Road. A 2023 Honda Accord, traveling eastbound, crossed into the westbound lane for reasons still under investigation. It collided with a 2024 Lexus RX350, driven by a local woman.
The driver of the Honda, Bryanda Joya, a resident of Marietta, was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police confirmed she was the only occupant of the Honda. The Lexus driver, also a local woman, sustained injuries from the impact and was treated at the scene and later at a hospital. Authorities said she was alert and conscious following the collision.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether speed, roadway conditions, or other factors contributed. The investigation remains ongoing, and more details are expected as authorities gather information.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Bryanda Joya, and we also hope for a full recovery for the injured driver.
Even when a crash does not result in a fatality for every party involved, the physical and emotional toll on surviving drivers can be severe. Injuries from head-on collisions, such as whiplash, fractures, or internal injuries, often require immediate medical attention and long-term care. Many drivers experience lingering pain, emotional trauma, and disruption to daily life.
After being injured in a serious crash, it’s important to document all medical treatment, gather eyewitness statements, and report the incident to insurance providers. Seeking prompt medical care is not only critical for health but also ensures that documentation supports any future personal injury claims.
Legal guidance can help injured drivers understand their rights, especially when another party’s negligence contributed to the collision. A car accident attorney in Marietta can help secure compensation for medical bills, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, and other accident-related expenses.
Drivers involved in head-on collisions should also be mindful of vehicle safety measures, such as seatbelt use and airbags, which can reduce the severity of injuries. They should follow medical recommendations, attend follow-up appointments, and consider therapy for emotional trauma caused by the accident. Awareness of roadway conditions, visibility, and blind spots around other vehicles is also essential to reduce risk.
