Smyrna, GA (October 18, 2025) – A bicyclist was injured on October 15 when she was struck by a white RAM pickup truck at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Lake Duckworth Drive. Authorities report that the truck fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Emergency responders arrived promptly after receiving the call and provided medical assistance to the bicyclist. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries. Authorities have not released her identity, and her current condition remains under investigation.
The Smyrna Police Department is actively searching for the driver of the truck and is asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to come forward. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the collision and the extent of the bicyclist’s injuries.
Hit-and-run accidents are taken very seriously, as fleeing the scene can result in criminal charges in addition to civil liability. Law enforcement urges anyone who witnessed the incident or has tips to contact the Smyrna Police Department immediately.
Our thoughts are with the injured bicyclist, and we hope for her full recovery.
Bicyclists are particularly vulnerable on busy roads, especially when drivers fail to yield or flee the scene of an accident. Even moderate-speed collisions can cause serious injuries, including broken bones, head trauma, or internal injuries. Prompt medical attention is critical for proper diagnosis, treatment, and documentation of injuries, which can also support potential legal claims.
Drivers should also practice vigilance around bicyclists. Maintaining safe speeds, checking blind spots, and stopping fully at crosswalks or intersections can reduce the risk of accidents. Awareness of roadway conditions, traffic patterns, and cyclist behavior is essential for preventing collisions.
After a bicycle crash, documenting the incident thoroughly is essential. Take photos of the scene, any vehicle damage, and visible injuries. Gather contact information for eyewitnesses and file a police report. These steps are particularly important in hit-and-run cases, where the driver initially flees the scene. Law enforcement and attorneys can use this evidence to identify the responsible party and establish liability.
Victims may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other accident-related expenses. Personal injury attorneys experienced in bicycle accidents can advocate on behalf of victims, ensuring that insurance claims are properly handled and that negligent drivers are held accountable.
Emotional recovery is also an important aspect after a serious crash. Counseling or therapy can help victims cope with trauma caused by the accident. Combined with medical care, legal guidance can help ensure that the injured bicyclist focuses on healing rather than navigating complex insurance and liability issues.
