Marietta, GA (October 29, 2025) – A teenager is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Windy Hill Road Southeast on Tuesday afternoon, according to Marietta fire officials.
Police reports indicate that the 18-year-old was traveling southbound on Cobb Parkway in the northbound lanes when they turned in front of oncoming southbound traffic at the intersection. A Ford Ranger traveling through the area was unable to stop in time and struck the scooter, resulting in a severe impact.
Emergency responders from the Marietta Fire Department arrived quickly and provided immediate medical aid at the scene. The teen, who suffered a serious head injury, was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Officials described their condition as critical, and medical personnel are continuing to monitor the teen’s recovery closely.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the injured individual pending family notification. No other injuries were reported, and the driver of the Ford Ranger remained at the scene, cooperating fully with investigators.
Police are examining all factors that may have contributed to the crash, including speed, driver awareness, and intersection visibility. Weather and lighting conditions at the time of the accident are also being reviewed as part of the investigation. The area around Cobb Parkway and Windy Hill Road remained partially restricted for several hours while officers processed evidence and cleared the roadway.
Our thoughts are with the injured teenager and their loved ones during this difficult time, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Scooter accidents have become increasingly common across Georgia, particularly in busy suburban areas like Marietta, where vehicle and pedestrian traffic often overlap. While scooters offer a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation, riders face serious risks when safety precautions are overlooked or when motorists fail to remain attentive.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), scooter and e-bike accidents have surged in recent years, with head and limb injuries among the most frequent outcomes. Even low-speed collisions can result in devastating trauma when riders lack protective gear or when vehicles fail to yield at intersections.
Victims of scooter-related crashes often face lengthy recovery periods, high medical expenses, and lasting emotional trauma. Determining liability can be complicated, as fault may rest with a negligent driver, a scooter manufacturer, or even a local government if inadequate signage or poor road design contributed to the crash.
A knowledgeable Cobb County Personal Injury Attorney can play a vital role in these cases: helping victims gather critical evidence such as witness accounts, surveillance footage, and official reports. Legal guidance ensures that those affected can pursue fair compensation for hospital bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and ongoing rehabilitation costs.
