Cobb County, GA (August 12, 2026) – This is an update to a previous article. You can read it here.
An 81-year-old man has died from his injuries following a severe two-vehicle collision that occurred on August 6 along Ernest Barrett Parkway.
Emergency personnel initially responded to the crash site north of the Irwin Road overpass around 7:55 p.m. Investigators determined that the victim was driving a Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he lost control, crossed the median, and entered the southbound travel lanes.
A southbound truck pulling a tanker semi-trailer collided with the driver's side of the victim's vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he ultimately succumbed to his trauma days later. The driver of the tanker truck was not injured in the impact.
Cobb County Police Department officers are continuing to look into the factors that led to the collision.
Our sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life.
When a multi-vehicle collision results in a fatality in Cobb County, Georgia law allows surviving family members and estate representatives to pursue civil investigations and potential claims to determine if mechanical failures, third-party negligence, or roadway hazards contributed to the crash.
Under Georgia’s wrongful death statutes, surviving spouses or children may seek financial recovery for the full value of the deceased's life, as well as immediate medical care and funeral expenses.
Conducting a thorough legal and physical investigation is critical when a vehicle unexpectedly crosses a dividing median into oncoming traffic. A comprehensive review examines vehicle maintenance logs, highway design parameters, and commercial tanker telematics to establish every underlying factor involved in the impact.
Navigating post-crash administrative procedures and dealing with commercial insurance entities during a time of loss can be overwhelming, making the guidance of a wrongful death attorney invaluable.
Legal counsel can assist by securing official police crash reconstruction reports, subpoenaing vehicle black box data, auditing applicable auto and commercial liability insurance policies, and handling direct communications with insurance adjusters. Working with an attorney helps protect your family's rights and ensures all potential avenues for financial resolution are thoroughly examined.
