Pedestrian Accidents and Hit-and-Run Risks in Cobb County

Pedestrian accidents remain a serious safety concern throughout Cobb County. Collisions outside of marked crosswalks, like the recent incident on South Cobb Dr, often result in severe injuries or fatalities. Hit-and-run crashes are particularly dangerous because victims may not receive immediate medical attention, and law enforcement must work quickly to locate and apprehend the responsible driver.

According to Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) data, Cobb County consistently ranks among the counties with the highest number of pedestrian-involved crashes in the state. In recent years, dozens of pedestrians have been injured or killed in traffic incidents, with many crashes occurring during evening hours or in areas with high vehicle speeds. Hit-and-run incidents account for a significant portion of these accidents, leaving victims’ families with both emotional trauma and financial burdens.

Pedestrians struck by vehicles can suffer traumatic brain injuries, fractures, spinal injuries, internal bleeding, and other life-altering harm. Even when victims survive, recovery often requires lengthy hospitalization, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical care. Families face additional challenges navigating lost wages, medical bills, and the complex process of filing insurance claims. Emotional trauma and stress can also impact family members, making legal guidance even more crucial.

An experienced attorney can assist victims and their families in pursuing compensation for medical expenses, lost income, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, and other damages. Attorneys can gather critical evidence, including crash reports, witness statements, surveillance footage, and vehicle damage assessments.

In hit-and-run cases, legal counsel can also explore uninsured motorist coverage and work to ensure victims receive full compensation, even if the responsible driver is never found. They can also help coordinate with medical providers, communicate with insurance companies, and advocate for fair settlements.
